In 2 days you will have the chance of visiting the islands from Svolvær to Å, from the northernmost to the southernmost corner of the archipelago. It will be a discover, an unique experience accompanied by an expertise.
The photo guide will make you discover the wild Eggum, the white sandy beach of Haukland, Henningsvær and Kabelvåg and their fishing traditions.
On the second day, we will hear south and get to know the beauty of Skagsanden, Ramberg, the Copacabana of the Lofoten islands, Hamnøy, Sakrisøya, Reine and Å where beauty, traditions and picturesque corners mix together.

Highlights
Day 1:
Facing the Vestfjord, Kabelvåg is worth a walk along the pier to the lighthouse and a walk to King Øystein’s statue from where you can enjoy an amazing panorama.
The Lofotkatedral is also worth a worth a visit. With its 1200 seats, the Cathedral is the second biggest one north of Trondheim. It is completely made of wood.
Known and “the Venice of the North”, Henningsvær is a tiny and colourful fishing villages where you can enjoy the atmosphere on the Nordic villages. Connected by bridges, Henningsvær is surrounded by stunning pics and rocks facing the sea. In Henningsvær you can enjoy history, traditions and local food.
Gimsøy is the smallest island of the entire archipelago. Facing the Atlantic, Gimsøy has rough, wild nature. The mountain Hoven, with its 368 metres high, is the perfect destination to admire the midnight sun in summer. In winter Gimsøysand is considered one of the best spot to enjoy the magic of the northern lights. The tiny church is also worth a visit. Built in 1876, it can host up to 300 people.
The fishing village of Eggum lies between the Atlantic ocean and the mountains. Eggum is a magic place where the silence is the main protagonist of the never ending summer nights. Eggum is indeed very popular among hikers and one of the best place to admire the beauty of the midnight sun. 50 year ago Eggum was inhabited by 600 fishermen, while today there are just 76 people left. Walking along Eggum and its colourful houses facing the ocean is an unforgettable experience.
Unstad is the surfers’ paradise. Its rough and perfect wavy sea makes Unstad the best place for surfing. Nature is spectacular. In fact, Unstad is surrounded by granite pics from 300 to 650 metres high. Perfect place the take great pictures, hike along a 8 kilometres trail to Eggum, and relax in a nice cafeteria where you can take a rest and taste local cakes.
Situated in Vestvågøy area, Haukland often has been mentioned as Norway’s most beautiful beach of the Lofoten archipelago. Haukland is in fact known for its white sand beach and crystal blue water, making this location very popular both in summer and winter when the white sand is replaced by the white snow. Although the water is nit as warm as we would like to, in summer it’s not so rare to see people swimming, enjoying the pureness of the ocean.
Day 2:
Located on the island of Flakstadøy, Nusfjord is the prettiest and best-preserved fishing hamlet.
Nusfjord is not just a pretty, culturally interesting, old fishing villages, Nusfjord is also the one where its buildings, its architecture has been preserved along the centuries. And although now it has been converted in a Arctic resort (to preserve the village itself and its beauty from the massive tourism), Nusfjord keeps on being the village where you can breathe the most the Lofoten history.
Nusfjord indeed has been one of Lofoten most important fishing harbours for centuries. The fishermen came for the seasonal cod fishery and stayed in the traditional ‘rorbu’ (fishermen’s cabins). The wooden cabins and industrial buildings date back to the 19th and early 20th century, Nusfjord was one of three nominated locations in Norway for UNESCOs 1975 traditional architecture preservation projects.
Ramberg is also famous for its white sand beach. The village is located on the island of Flakstadøy and it has 300 inhabitants approximately.
Flakstad church is located about 4 kilometres northeast of Ramberg and it is the second church to exist on this site since 1430. The timber used to build the church came form Russia. The people of Flakstad were used to exchange fish for timber. This is way the church has a Russian Orthodox style.
Hamnøy is a small fishing village in Moskenes municipality. It is located on the eastern side of the island of Moskensøy about 1,5 km of Reine village, along the Vestfjorden. In the past, Hamnøy was connected to Reine by ferry. The ferry was soon replaced by bridges.
Today it has become one of the most popular site of the Lofoten islands. Every year, photographer coming from all over the world, gather to shot the peculiarities and this small jewel called Hamnøy. Its tiny harbour, its colourful small boats surrounded by high mountains, the oldest of northern Europe, make this place a paradise for the photography lovers.
Reine is the most popular place of the entire archipelago. Its incredible position and stunning nature attract tourists all year around. Reine has in incredible position as lies on the arm of Reinefjorden.
Inhabited by 300 people approximately, Reine has been a trading post since 1743.
From Reine, you can reach and hike “Reinebringen” (a 460 meter high mountain), famous for its unique view to Reine, Sakrisøy and Hamnøy.
Å (Norwegian pronunciation “o”) is a village in Moskenes Municipality in Nordland county, is the southernmost village of the Lofoten archipelago. It is connected to the rest of the archipelago by the European route E10 highway, which ends here. This part of the highway is also called King Olav’s Road.
Until the 1990s, Å was mainly a small fishing village specializing in stockfish, but since then tourism has taken over, it represents today the most important economic resource, The town has a very interesting Stockfish Museum which is worth <an accurate visit. The “Tørrfisk Museet” (Stockfish museum) which, together with the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, as two big tourist attractions.
Å i Lofoten is where every year the Lofoten Fishery starts.
