Itinerary 1:
Vågan church – Also known as Lofoten Cathedral, is a beautiful wooden church located in Kabelvåg, Lofoten Islands, Norway. Built in 1898 in a Gothic Revival style, it is one of the largest wooden churches in Northern Norway, with a capacity of around 1,200 people.
Henningsvær – A picturesque fishing village in the Lofoten Islands known for its stunning harbor, colorful houses, and dramatic mountain backdrop. The village is famous for its vibrant art scene, cozy cafés, and the iconic Henningsvær Football Field, which sits on a rocky islet.
Gimsøy (Gimsøy church and Hov beach)– Gimsøy is a scenic island in the Lofoten Islands known for its rugged coastline, open landscapes, and rich Viking history. It is home to Hov Beach, a beautiful sandy beach popular for horseback riding and offering stunning views of the Arctic Ocean. Another highlight is Gimsøy Church, a charming white wooden church from 1876, beautifully situated by the sea.
Eggum
Nestled between ocean and mountains, Eggum is a place of deep silence and endless summer light. Once home to 600 fishermen, today fewer than 80 people live here. Walking past its colorful houses by the sea is a timeless and unforgettable experience, especially under the midnight sun.
Haukland beach – One of the most famous and beautiful beaches in the Lofoten Islands, Norway. Known for its soft white sand, turquoise waters, and dramatic mountain surroundings, it offers a stunning contrast between land and sea.
Itinerary 2:
Nusfjord
Located on Flakstadøy, Nusfjord is one of Norway’s best-preserved fishing villages. Its historic rorbuer (fishermen’s cabins) and industrial buildings date back to the 19th and early 20th centuries. Though now an exclusive Arctic resort, Nusfjord remains deeply authentic and was nominated for UNESCO preservation in 1975.
Skagsanden Beach is one of Lofoten’s most beautiful white-sand beaches, framed by steep mountains and open ocean. Known for its changing light, reflections, and wide shoreline, it’s a favorite stop for photography, coastal walks, and experiencing Lofoten’s raw Arctic nature.
Hamnøy
One of Lofoten’s most photographed villages, Hamnøy sits dramatically between fjord and mountains. Its red cabins, tiny harbor, and towering peaks make it a dream for photographers from around the world.
Reine – Often called one of the most beautiful villages in Norway, Reine offers incredible photo opportunities, especially with the iconic Reinebringen mountain as a backdrop. Visitors can enjoy activities like hiking, kayaking, and boat trips to explore the surrounding landscapes. Its peaceful atmosphere and scenic beauty make it a must-visit destination in Lofoten.
Å is a picturesque fishing village at the very end of the Lofoten Islands, known for its red rorbuer cabins, cod-drying racks, and dramatic coastal scenery. It offers a glimpse into traditional Arctic life, surrounded by some of Lofoten’s most striking landscapes.
